From February through March, the WCA ran a two-month neighborhood composting campaign in partnership with Compost Crew. Our ambitious goal was to sign up 70 new households at a special discounted rate of $25/month (down from the regular $32/month). While we didn’t reach our target, Compost Crew is continuing to support our community by offering a new discounted rate of $28/month for all new sign-ups—and for those who joined during the February–March campaign.
Our goal remains the same: to encourage community-wide composting as a meaningful step toward reducing methane emissions and sending a clear message to Montgomery County that residents support composting as a public service worth endorsing and expanding.

WCA COMPOST CAMPAIGN
Start Composting, Save Money, Make a Difference!
We ask you to consider your part in helping reduce landfill waste and fight climate change by keeping food scraps out of the trash.
We believe that good deeds and sustainable practices start here in our community. Every person and every household matters in the bigger effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Here’s the deal, in a nutshell:
- You can sign up directly on Compost Crew's website. Use the coupon WCACOMPOSTS.
- This offer is available to new members only.
- If we sign up 70 new households by March 31, 2025, the discount rate of $25/month will be locked in for all participants.
- If we don’t reach the goal, the rate will revert to $32/month.
- You can opt out of the service at any time, so there’s no long-term commitment.

Message Board under Composting.
When communities compost, it sends a powerful message to local governments. When enough residents take action, counties take notice. This grassroots momentum can encourage officials to explore county-wide composting initiatives, leading to broader accessibility, infrastructure improvements, and even policy changes that make composting a standard part of waste management for all residents.
